In 1978, Petr became a professional conductor and in 1983–1991 he was engaged as the chief conductor of the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra that, under his baton, gave guest performances in many European countries and in Japan. In 2002–2005, Petr Vronský was the chief conductor of the Janáček Philharmonic in Ostrava; with this orchestra, Petr completed many foreign concert tours of Japan, Spain, Austria, Germany, Poland, etc.
Since the 2005/2006 season he is the honorary chief conductor of the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra and he also teaches conducting as an assistant professor at the Musical Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He guest conducts top world orchestras on regular basis including the Antwerp Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Devlet Senfoni Orchestrasi of Istanbul, the Metropolitan Orchestra Tokyo, the Rio de Janeiro Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, etc. Petr also cooperates with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra of Prague, the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, the Czech Radio Symphonic Orchestra and with operas both at home (the National Theatre in Prague, the Prague State Opera, the Janáček Opera in Brno, the Tyl Theatre in Pilsen) and abroad (Kammeroper Wien, the Dance Theatre Haag).
