Oldřich Kříž

In his first engagement in České Budějovice opera house he had a whole series of beautiful operatic opportunities in the form of Don Giovanni, Rigoletto, Macbeth, Simon Boccanegra, and other roles. When he later became a regular soloist with the Prague State Opera he expanded his repertoire to include new roles such as Belcore in Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, the Poet in Rossini’s The Turk in Italy, William in Glass’ The Fall of the House of Usher, Doctor in Viklický’s Phaedra, Plautus in Martinů’s The Soldier and the Dancer and Horatio in Hamlet. He performed Šiškov in Janáček’s opera From the House of the Dead in Nantes Opera, where he in 1999 sang even seven different roles in Karetnikov’s Thyl Ullenspiegel.
