The Bulgarian soprano Ljubomira Popova is a graduate from the Music Academy in Plovdiv and in recent years she has been improving her vocal technique during her work with J. Kotouč. She started her career in the Czech Republic by her first engagement in the Silesian Theatre Opava. Since 1993 she has been a member of the Prague State Opera ensemble, where she also played a number of solo roles such as the Foreign Princess in Rusalka by Dvořák, the Priestess in Aida by Verdi, the Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto) and Annina (La traviata). In the Death in Venice by Britten she played the role of female minstrel (glee-woman). As Musetta in the Puccini’s Bohéma and Papagena in the Mozart’s Magic Flute she appeared as a guest in Ústí nad Labem. Ljubomira Popova is also engaged in giving concerts, particularly in the sphere of spiritual music (A. Dvořak, F. Schubert etc.).
