Christian Voigt

Tenor Christian Voigt was born in Berlin where he studied singing with Heinz Reehe and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. In 1995 he was the Award winner at the Sixth International Mozart Competition in Salzburg. He passed master classes of Peter Schreier, Josef Protschka, Kurt Equiluzo, Wolfram Rieger and René Kollo. He has sung under the baton of such conductors as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Helmuth Rilling, Philippe Herrewegh, Michael Schoenwandt, Adam Fischer, Gerd Albrecht, and has co-operated with prominent European Orchestras such as the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, La Chapelle Royale, Staatskapelle Berlin, Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, Danish Radio Concert Orchestra. He has sung at reputed concert halls such as Tonhalle Zürich, Koncertgebouw Amsterdam, Palais des Beaux Arts Bruxelles, Stephanien-Saal Graz, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées Paris, Liederhalle in Stuttgart, Berliner Philharmonie, and Konzerthaus Berlin. He has been the frequent guest at numerous international festivals such as Styriarte in Graz, Strauss’ Festival in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Dresdener Musikfestspiele, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Internationale Hugo-Wolf-Akademie Stuttgart, Schubertiade Feldkirch, Wiener Festwochen and Bad Hersfelder Opernfestspiele. As for concerts and songs, Christian Voigt’s main focus has been classical and romantic repertory. His operatic repertory which was very Mozart-focused at the start, has been enriched lately by such parts as Max (Der Freischütz), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Siegmund (Die Walküre), Florestan (Fidelio), the Duke (Rigoletto), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Erik (Der fliegende Holländer), Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos), Nadir (Les pecheurs de perles), Fenton (Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor), Števa (Jenůfa) etc. Christian Voigt co-operates with a number of opera houses such as Staatsoper Hannover, Opernhaus Frankfurt am Main, Staatsoper Izmir, Teatro Lirico in Trieste, Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck and more. The highlights of his artistic activity have been recorded by Hännsler-Verlag, Harmonia Mundi and Naxos.

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
